Located on the eastern shores of Crooked Lake, Hillcrest Heights is an entirely residential community between Lake Wales and Frostproof.

It has the lowest property tax rate of incorporated communities in Polk County at 35.71 cents for each $1,000 of assessed taxable property.

Town Clerk Larry Blackwelder said most of the annual budget of about $100,000 is for road maintenance.

Government: Town Council with a mayor and four commissioners who manage the government. The commission meets at 7:30 p.m. on the second Tuesday of each month at Town Hall, 151 N. Scenic Highway.

Public schools: Lake Wales High School or Frostproof Middle/Senior High School, McLaughlin Middle School in Lake Wales and Dale Fair Babson Park Elementary School. Babson Park and Lake Wales High School are operated by Lake Wales Charter Schools, while Frostproof Middle/Senior High School and McLaughlin are operated by the Polk County School District.
