BARTOW | Circuit Judge Keith Spoto granted a defense motion today (Thursday) to lift house arrest conditions for Brittini Hardcastle, 17, of Lakeland.

Hardcastle is one of five girls who remained charged in a March 30 videotaped beating of former Mulberry High School cheerleader Victoria Lindsay.

Hardcastle faces charges of kidnapping, battery and witness tampering.

Originally, eight teenagers were accused in the beating case that has grabbed national attention. Earlier this month, charges were dropped against three co-defendants because of insufficient evidence.

Thursday’s ruling allows Hardcastle more freedom as she awaits trial.
