The criminal cases against five teenage girls charged with the videotaped beating of a former Mulberry High School cheerleader continue to move along, but no trial dates have been set.

On Tuesday, Circuit Judge Keith Spoto scheduled pretrial hearings for the girls Nov. 18.

Brittini Hardcastle's lawyer requested that her client's curfew be extended so she can attend church two nights a week.

The judge asked that the lawyer submit a proposed order.

Meanwhile, lawyers have scheduled an Oct. 15 deposition of the alleged victim in the case, Victoria 'Tori' Lindsay, court records show.

Originally, eight teenagers were accused of participating in the March 30 beating.

However, charges were dropped against three teens because of insufficient evidence.

Hardcastle, 18, Mercades Nichols, 17, Kayla Hassall, 15, April Cooper, 15, and Brittany Mayes, 17, still face charges of battery and kidnapping related to the beating.

Nichols, Mayes and Hardcastle also face a charge of tampering with a witness.

All five are out on bail.

Kinda harsh.. Maybe they should have gone into the kitchen and got a knife and stabbed her ,left her to bleed on the street. Then they would only get 8 years if they can blame it on their hard life and mama.
These girls should not get a harder sentence than the young man who stabbed and KILLED another young man because he didn't know the knife would go that deep.

I have an idea, most of these charges will be reduced and these girls will get probation. Unfortunately, this is the way our justice system works. I would say, just by seeing the short video I saw, that at least 6 months in the county jail would do them all good.

i actually know half of these girls from school and stuff like that. and i know that they did wrong but she probably did something to get them that mad to fight her. stuff like this happens everyday in places where i live but it doesn't make national headlines. I WONDER WHY?????
