Maybe it's time for Publix Super Markets to retire "Where Shopping is a Pleasure" for "Health, Wealthy and (Green)Wise."

A recent article by Health magazine ranked Lakeland-based Publix eighth among the nation's top 10 "healthiest" supermarkets, praising the chain for its infant and preschool nutrition programs, as well as its GreenWise line of products and stores that emphasize natural and organic foods.
Publix was the only Florida-based chain featured on Health's list, which put Austin-based Whole Foods at No. 1

RE: Link
Shopping at Publix is not A pleasure .It is over rated and expensive. If Florida, in general, had more options as to where to buy groceries Publix would be bruised financially and in popularity.

How wonderful it would be to get a Fresh Market or Whole Foods in South Lakeland. You just can't get the variety of fresh, organic fruits and veggies at Publix or Winn Dixie as you can at these stores.

I was in TX a few years ago... They have a chain H.E.B. that would put Publix to shame, from what I saw.. Always clean, always fresh/organic fruit/veg, excellent bakery/sit down eatery area with fresh prepared foods, EXCELLENT meats and friendly/helpful workers on all levels.. After reading an article on Greenwise, the H.E.B stores I was in sounds much like Greenwise.. Maybe not as many organic shelf products, though..
I shopped in 3 of their stores in various parts of the state, it was the same service/products everywhere..There is a Publix close to me, I'll drive extra miles to the WD, because of the attitude of the employees at the neighborhood Publix...

I agree, Publix is way overrated and overpriced, not to mention when prices started going up because of fuel prices, prices went up dramatically and some products got smaller, and even the price on those went up, like nobody would notice....well I did, and they wonder why profits in the last quarter dipped 20%

What was he looking for beyond money? That is all publix is today. The same order across the street is 10-30 percent less. That is not an exageration as one time I took my reciept and actually compared prices one for one....
